The compression results
obtained by space-frequency quantization using the standard wavelet
transform and directionlets for Lena,
Barbara and Fingerprint.
Spatial segmentation of images generates blocking effect at segment boundaries especially for low bit-rates. Post-processing deblocking method (Xiong et al., 1997) removes successfully this effect.
Lena compressed at the bit-rate 0.057bpp using the standard SFQ (PSNR = 26.20dB) and directionlets (PSNR = 26.92dB).
Fingerprint compressed at the bit-rate 0.114bpp using the standard SFQ (PSNR = 20.03dB) and directionlets (PSNR = 22.53dB).
